You either have to win in the different forms of PvP to gain balthazar faction and use them for skill unlocks from the Priests of Balthazar, or go into PvE and buy the skill you are looking for gold.s

No, you can do it either way. If you buy a skill on a PvE character, it is unlocked for your PvP character. If you buy a skill on your PvP character, it is unlocked on your PvP characters (not your PvE characters though).

1. Any skill unlocked using Balthazar faction (PvP) or purchased with gold (PvE) is available for all PvP characters on your account.
2. You cannot use tomes for a PvP character, they are only for PvE. 3. Zaishen Coins are earned by doing the daily Zaishen Challenges. Zaishen Combat is the only one for PvP characters. The Combat ones can be repeated by getting the reward, then rezoning and taking the quest again.

Just a tad of additional info for you.
for e.g If you have the campaigns and you have a spare slot By creating a pvp char the skills you unlock by balt faction ...your PVE char cannot use them...But...your heros on PVE can use them So if you like pvp any skill you unlock only your heros will be able to use that includes the elite skills. in pve So keep a PVP char if you do both pve and pvp and only you pve char has to obtain the skills your want. Hope this helps you a little |

PvP characters don't have to buy skills.... ever. They have access to ALL skills that are unlocked on the account. There are two ways to unlock skills. First would be through Balthazar Faction and a Priest of Balthazar. It takes 1000 Faction for each skill, and 3000 for each elite skill. The second way to unlock skills is to acquire them on a PvE character. PvE characters can acquire skills through quests, Skill Trainers (costs a skill point and gold for each skill, max cost is 1 platinum), and Hero Skill Trainers (these offer PvE only skills as well, which won't be available to a PvP character, but can get regular skills too). Tomes would do you no good. Tomes only teach you a skill if you have already unlocked the skill on the account. Since PvP characters already have access to ALL skills unlocked on the account, you would already know the skill the Tome would teach you. Tomes are to allow PvE characters to acquire skills earlier than normal as some skills can only be learned from Trainers late in the game.
It is normally recommended that new players do one of 2 things to start PvP. 1) would be to play PvE. This teaches you how skills work together, and you get a feel for what the other classes offer. Most importantly, it allows you to acquire a lot of skills fairly easy. 2) Buy the PvP Access Kits from the in game store. This gives you access to all the skills for the campaign you purchase the kit for. That means you can PvP and already have access to skill without spending time unlocking them. If you only care about PvP, I'd buy a PvP Access Kit to save yourself some time. If you want to do some PvE as well, I'd suggest doing a LOT of that first. Playing PvE can also get you to spots that are available to PvP characters, but also some that aren't. The Ascalon Arena, Shing Jea Arena, and Istani Arena all are for level 10 and under characters, and the Shiverpeak Arena is for 15 and under. |

However, if you have tournament points you can get elite gear, and rare skins. But that's another story |

If you press J on a PvP char, you can change your armor. The armor types that are availble without tournament points is the non-elite ones.
And, it is not only skills that needs to be unlocked to play PvP successfully, but you need to unlock, runes, insignias and weapon mods too. You do that by a priest of balthazar using balthazar factions, or by identifying a blu, purple or gold item in PvE. The mod showing up will be unlocked for your account. |
